Newark Police Sergeant Charged In Traffic Officer's Death: Prosecutor
Victor Ortiz, a Newark police sergeant, was arrested and charged on Thursday, Jan. 2 in connection with the death of Newark Traffic Control Officer Jairo Rodriguez last month, authorities said.
At 12:42 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12, Rodriguez was struck by a vehicle while directing traffic following an event at the Prudential Center, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka and Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda said.

MTV announced on Tuesday, May 23, the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards will be held at the Prudential Center in Newark for the second year in a row on Sept. 12. Canadian Man Called Bomb Threats To Boston Children's Hospital, Others: FBI
Boston and federal officials say they've arrested a 42-year-old Canadian man who is responsible for several bomb threats last month, authorities said on Monday, Oct. 24.
Joshua Kimble, of Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, is charged with 12 counts of public mischief, 12 counts of false information, and a charge of failing to comply with a probation officer, Boston police said. Police arrested him last month, and he is being held in Canada. It's unclear when he'll be sent to the US to stand trial.
