The Norwalk Police Department has named its Officers of the Month for January: Sergeant Justin Bisceglie, Officer Javier Mogollon and Officer Ralph DeVito. Officials say these officers earned these awards after an incident on Saturday, Jan. 12. Sergeant Justin Bisceglie, Officer Javier Mogollon and Officer Ralph DeVito responded to a residence on the report of an unconscious person. A day after three people were killed by an overdosing driver in a crash at a Route 23 gas station, the driver of a school bus carrying children with special needs had to be revived with Narcan after a crash in Newark. Feds Grant Mahwah $300,000 To Help Fight Opioid Abuse
The federal government has granted Mahwah $299,360 for anti-opioid programs, training and initiatives, as authorities increase their attention to synthetic drugs – particularly fentanyl. Some fast-acting police officers in Ramapo came to the rescue of a man suffering from a potentially fatal overdose. Officers Matthew Murphy and Michael Luba were dispatched to an Airmont home at approximately 6:20 p.m. on Friday, Oct.12, where there was a report of an overdose inside an area home. : New Milford Police Rescue OD Victim, 51, In Locked SUV
A group of New Milford police officers rescued a 51-year-old borough woman who’d overdosed in her locked SUV. An officer broke the window so he and his colleagues could get to the victim in a rear River Road parking lot late Friday afternoon, Detective Lt. Kevin Van Saders said. They immediately administered CPR and then Narcan, which brought her around, he said. The woman -- who told police she'd taken oxycodone -- was taken to Holy Name Medical Center by a hospital ambulance, Van Saders said. The heroes: Capt. Kevin Kiene, Lt. Some quick-acting police officers in Rockland County may have saved the life of a potential overdose victim in Airmont. Members of the Ramapo Police Department were dispatched to an Airmont home late on Labor Day, where there was a report of a male overdose victim.
