A Long Island resident helped smuggle Iranian citizens into the U.S., including one person with ties to the nation’s notorious Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, federal investigators said.
Sharon Gohari, 48, also possessed child sex abuse material on his phone, including the rape of children as young as 5 years old, the Justice Department said Tuesday, May 12.
Gohari, who lived in Roslyn, pleaded guilty in Brooklyn federal court to unlawful smuggling and receiving child sex abuse material, the feds said. He faces up to 30 years in prison.

John P. Menendez has been sentenced to 50 years in state prison for the killings of Anna Shpilberg and Luiza Shinkarevskaya, both 40, with his service weapon in Newark in February 2021, NJ Advance Media reports.
