A man who barricaded himself in a Ho-Ho-Kus home apparently with multiple registered firearms was hospitalized after an hour-long standoff, sources say. The Bergen County SWAT team responded to the Lakewood Avenue home just before 5 p.m., apparently as a precaution. It was not clear why authorities responded to the house. The man was later taken to Bergen New Bridge Medical Center for evaluation. It was not clear if he was charged.

Man Safely Rescued From River In Pottstown: Sources
A man was safely rescued from a river in Pottstown Thursday, May 5, sources said. Fire crews were called to College Drive and Keystone Boulevard around 3:50 p.m. on a report of a man unable to make it back to shore, Montgomery County Public Affairs Coordinator Todd Stieritz confirmed. Initial reports say the man was about 100 feet out in the water and unable to move. It was unclear how he had ended up in the water. He was safely rescued around 4:35 p.m. and was being treated by EMS at the scene, Stieritz said.

Police in Western Mass are searching for a man who allegedly robbed a convenience store while threatening the clerk with a knife. Man Struck By Car In Morris County, Police Say
A man was struck by a car in Morris County late Thursday morning, police said. A vehicle traveling west on Hanover Avenue in Morris Plains hit the man near Speedwell Avenue around 11:30 a.m., Police Chief Michael M. Koroski told DailyVoice.com. The man was conscious and alert as officers arrived and was reporting minor injuries, Koroski said. The accident remained under investigation.
