A community is coming together to help a Dutchess County family who lost their home and nearly all of their pets in a devastating fire.
The blaze happened on Saturday, Aug. 16, at a residence on Holsapple Road at the High Meadows Trailer Park in the town of Dover.
According to a GoFundMe created by Kevin Cargain, his mother Karen, stepfather Erick, and sister Taylor lost their home in the fire, along with two dogs and multiple cats. Only two pets were saved.

A man is facing multiple charges after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop, leading cops on a chase to a Dutchess County gas station, and driving while impaired by drugs, police said.
The incident happened around 2:11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 15, when troopers tried to stop a 2017 Buick SUV in Dover for traffic violations, New York State Police announced.
The driver, identified as Eric P. Oakes, age 44, of Dover, refused to pull over, beginning a brief pursuit that ended in the parking lot of the Mobil gas station at 1782 Route 22 in Wingdale, police said.

A Dutchess man is behind bars after investigators say he sold fentanyl and methamphetamine in the Harlem Valley area of the county, officials said.
Gregory Iozzo, age 42, was arrested early Thursday morning, May 8, near his home on White Farm Road in the town of Dover, following a drug investigation by the Dutchess County Drug Task Force, officials said on Friday, May 9.
According to the Task Force, Iozzo had been selling fentanyl multiple times in the Harlem Valley area, which includes the towns of Amenia, Dover, and Pawling, all located along the Metro-North Harlem Line.

A teen who died after falling through the ice at a park in the Hudson Valley is being remembered for his "amazing smile," and " infectious laughter."
Dutchess County resident Noah Michael Thompson, age 17, of Amenia, died Friday, Feb. 10, at Sharon Hospital in Litchfield County, Connecticut, after falling through the ice at the Taconic State Park in the village of Millerton, located in the Town of North East.
Noah was a high school student at Webutuck High School in Amenia and was expecting to graduate this spring, according to his obituary.

Dutchess County resident Jacqueline D. Pirir-Tec, of Dover, was reported missing by her family on Friday, Feb. 25, state police said.
On Thursday night, March 3, state police announced that she has been located "in good health and returned safely to her family."

Hudson Valley Man Rescued From Mining Tunnel After Being Trapped By 40-Ton Boulder
An employee at an area materials quarry was rescued after a boulder broke free and landed on his machine, trapping him 2,500 feet into a tunnel.
The incident took place around 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 14 at the Wingdale Materials quarry in Dutchess County in Dover, said the JH Ketcham Hose Company.
According to Chief Ryan Sartori, of the JH Ketcham Hose Company, his department, along with Dover Ambulance, were dispatched to the quarry for the man trapped in a machine in the mine.
